Aviation Medicine from a Physician Who Understands Flying

Dr. Scott Hughes combines his experience as a retired Air Force pilot, board-certified family physician, and Senior FAA Aviation Medical Examiner to provide thorough, efficient FAA medical examinations for pilots throughout Moscow, Pullman, the Palouse, and surrounding communities.

Whether you fly professionally, recreationally, or are preparing for your first solo flight, our goal is to help you understand the medical certification process and keep you flying safely.

FAA Medical Certificates

Dr. Hughes performs:

  • First-Class FAA medical examinations
  • Second-Class FAA medical examinations
  • Third-Class FAA medical examinations

Not sure which certificate you need? Our team can help you determine the appropriate appointment based on your aviation activities.

Before Your Appointment

  1. Complete your application through FAA MedXPress.
  2. Call (208)310-7773 to schedule your appointment.  You must have your MedXPress confirmation number to schedule.
  3. Bring to your appointment

  • A current photo ID.
  • Your glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, or other corrective devices.
  • A complete list of your medications.
  • Any relevant medical records or FAA correspondence, including special issuances.

If you have a significant medical condition, take prescription medication, or have previously received an FAA deferral or special issuance, please let our staff know when scheduling. Additional records may be needed before your examination can be completed.
